Preschools at Richmond community facilities are designed to develop the whole child intellectually, socially, physically, emotionally and cognitively. A positive and encouraging learning environment is provided where children of various cultures and backgrounds share and learn about each other.
Preschool Terms & Ages
The preschool term is from September through June except on statutory holidays, public school breaks (winter and spring) and school Professional Development Days. For all preschools, children must be 3 years of age by December 31, 2026 to be eligible for the 2026/2027 School Year.
Preschool Fees
A $50 registration fee is due when registering, and is non-refundable. The school year’s fees are divided into 10 equal payments and may be paid by cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cheque. Monthly post-dated payments from the remainder of the school year are accepted.
Licensed Preschool 2026/2027 School Year Program
Steveston Preschool (3-4 years)
Children whose birth year is 2022 and 2023 are eligible to register in this play-based program designed for 3 and 4-year olds. With learning opportunities in fine arts, science, intergenerational programming, yoga, music movements and a specialty introduction to language and & cultures. Participants can choose M/W/F and/or Tu/Thurs. Children can register for 2, 3 or 5 days.
Note: This program is eligible for the Child Care Free Reduction Initiative (CCFRI). Monthly fee reduction varies due to days of instruction.

Times for Twos
This program prepares children for preschool and builds on fine motor and emotional skills in this play-based and social program. Parents may or may not be required to attend. Children must be two years old by December 31, 2025. This program is for 2024 birth year and runs September 2026 to June 2027.
Note: Times for Twos is unlicensed.* Participants may register for all 5 days.
*An unlicensed program means that it is unable to provide Ministry of Children support programs and grants and is not monitored by the Health Department. However, the standard of care provided is similar, if not the same, as licensed programs.

2026/2027 School Year Registration
The following documents for each child is required when registering:
- Birth Certificate.
- BC Care Card.
- Immunization record.
- Clear, recent photo of the child’s face.
Please contact our Preschool Coordinator, Catherine Nevada, to inquire and register.
- A non-refundable payment of $50 is due at the time of registration to secure the Time for Twos/Preschool spot.
- Monthly fees are processed a month in advance of the current month (September fees are processed in August, etc).
