Private: Volunteering with Steveston Community Centre

I will communicate with my supervisor if I will be late, absent or if my schedule changes.

  • It is very important that you let someone know if your availability changes.
  • If you are feeling unwell before your shift, let your supervisor know. Even if you
believe that you will recover, you should let them know you may not make it and
    confirm as soon as possible.

I will communicate my needs and limits to my supervisor regarding my time, emotional or physical resources.

  • You have the right and obligation to tell others about your boundaries and
comfort levels. Do not do work that you are uncomfortable or unprepared for.
  • You are encouraged to ask for help or additional training when needed. Again,
don’t do work you aren’t prepared for!

I will openly speak about things that make me uncomfortable.

  • Don’t remain silent if you feel that you’re being treated in a way that you do not
feel safe about. Others may not realize what is happening if you don’t speak out.
