The mightiest sockeye ever to navigate the Fraser River, Sammy the Salmon measures up as the biggest salmon on record: from the top of his cap to the tip of his tail, he is a whopping 7’2” long!
When not ushering his colleagues upriver and teaching the next generation to swim downstream, Sammy spends his spare time at the Steveston Community Centre schooling the local kids in foosball, soccer and XBox.
Sammy is regularly seen atop the “Spirit of Steveston” parade float at events around Metro Vancouver, and at the annual Steveston Salmon Festival on July 1st.
